Hit the lake by 8am all fired up.  We did the Tonto end and found the flotilla right away.  Lots of boats but didn't see too many people bringing in fish.  My mom caught 2 and my dad caught 2.  I was the boat driver.  They caught theirs using 1/16 or 1/8oz jig with John Deer Green grub and minnow.  I tried slow vertical trolling and later in the day had one on but came unhooked near the boat... bummer.

Highlight of the day was my mom pulling in a 16 3/4" crappie weighing 2.46lbs.  Just about hit that 17"er I'm looking for myself.  All crappie were 1.5lbs or more.  They grow them big in that lake.

I did talk to a few boaters and didn't hear much. I did talk to one that knew my name but I didn't recognize them or their boat (sorry).  If that was you, please respond.  Sorry we didn't catch up with you again.

Looking forward to Spring Crappie Fest next weekend.  Some slabs are sure to be caught there!

Be very cautious of that mystery man you talked to............ :lol_hitting:

Nice report Matt!  Quality time with the folks.  Did you catch them early in the day?

Caught them spread out from 8-2.  Actually around 1pm is when she caught the big one and then had her line in again and tugging down but she missed that one.  That's also when I had mine on and lost it all in same spot.

Funny I had 16' and 14' rods going and my dad for some reason was using what looked like a 5' pole.  Guess the fish don't care.

nice fish Matt, glad you had a good time :headbang:

Good job Matt, that was me that talked to you out there in the back of my friends boat. We started about 830 on the salt end. Tried windy hill, then grapevine long lining for about 3 hours without a sniff. Traveled to bermuda flats area and tried the same thing. My friends girlfriend wasn't feeling to well, so we had to bail to the marina about 1. She was a trooper and we tried to stay out for the afternoon bite. Headed to haystack and there was a boat back behind there with a blown motor, so we towed them to badger. By now she is pretty miserable so we called it a day at 3. Ended up with 3 bass, no crappie???? Talked to another friend that ened up with two, but most other people we talked to got blanked. Just when you think the lake is back, you get rosied :banghead:
