Where are all the reports on the only crappie lake left in the state Alamo?

I've had the crappie bug so bad now for too long, and have made the decision I'm going to drive 6 hrs to go to Alamo just so I can catch some damn crappie. I want it to be good when I go. Because I will have a lot of money into this trip. Any reports would be awesome. I thank you in advance.

:toothy10:I'll be camping for the next three days at a spot next to the ranger station, Seneca motor home, blue Lund boat. Pop in and say hi, Brian.

I don't know what to tell you other than most of us feel the same as you. Alamo seems to be the lake of choice, but there are other options. We all drop money in the bucket looking for crappie. Once you find them....game on

Its pretty much between Lake Powell ,where i know we can catch "something at least" or Alamo, where I have never fished, and nobody is giving out any reports. I know people have to be going to Alamo and fishing, but aren't sharing the info lol. Thanks in advance.

Just get to Alamo in time to stop at the store in the State Park and they'll fill you in on where to fish and presentation method.  It's a fairly small lake.

Stevert's advice is great.

MeNRats and I, and Tweeder and I, on 2 separate occasions, did well trolling between 0.8 and 1 MPH throughout the flooded timber at the north end of the lake in March. Not too much should have changed but it is fishing. We used minnows tipped on kalins grubs. All of that type of presentation can be found in many places on this site.

I wish I had a current report to offer you, but I don't. All I can offer is what I have heard, and that it has slowed down. As previous posters have stated, trolling in the flooded timber up lake with either jigs, or tight-lining minnows has done well in past. Good luck.

I'll be heading to Alamo this Friday and may see some of you there.

We may camp out but not sure yet. What camp ground is closest to the water in walking distance as we may need to charge the boat up overnight for Saturday fishing?

Thanks in advanced.

Cval' I hope you're at the lake already but if not then look up the phone # for the store that is part of the state park and call them. You might even try to call the ranger station to see what's going on. Strike up a conversation with Fishless here at the association, he fishes Alamo a lot and he always seems to find the crappie. Most importantly, try different jig head jig body color combinations and use the favorites, BBC, JOHN DEERE, ACID RAIN, CHARTREUSE try them tipped with minnow and not tipped also try no jig body and just a plain hook tipped with minnow. GO AND GET SOME ROADRUNNERS. The store used to sell them but I think they lost their supplier. Fish where the majority of other boats are fishing. Just go and fish you're heart out cause this is the best spot available to crappie right now.

Good luck,
FISH ON!
