I bet you all are excited for Powell, hope for safe travel and some great weather and fishing.  Hope you can send a few reports on daily catches and race for biggest fish.

We all made it up safely and on time thankfully.

Saw some reports on Facebook 50-60 walleye 1 boat wow they already got it dialed in there.  Hope they brought their freezers!  p.s. I'll take any extra walleye you guys bring home.

Who's in the running for biggest walleye?  Will they break 5lbs this year?

Another great trip to Powell has come to an end. We all made it back home safely last night.

On this trip we had a flu bug make into "camp". It hit Larry and I Sunday. We were both down for about a day. Scott got hit Wednesday night, but recovered quickly and was back on the water Thursday. Finally, Stevert got hit Thursday afternoon and was back on the water Friday.

Unfortunately, Larry also had boat issues this trip. Seems to be sucking air in the fuel system between the tank and motor as he has a hard time getting the boat to get to full rpms. They thought they fixed it by replacing some parts, but to no avail. It didn't keep them off the water, but probably kept them for traveling up north.

Conditions were definitely different this year with the lake being so low. We stayed at Bullfrog in the family units. The main ramp was completely out of water. There was dirt launching there which I think we all used at least once. This afforded a small walk to the truck, but no dock available so someone had to get wet to park. Also available was the executive launch near the marina. 3 lane launch with a dock. More of a walk, but similar to what we have used at Halls.

Lake was about 20 feet lower than 2 years ago. Certainly surreal to see some of our previous spots completely out of water. Had to be careful not to cut some of the corners on the main lake points while traveling. Especially the corner across from Moki canyon. At one point I was coming across there, and it quickly became 10 FOW and we could see bottom.

The weather was outstanding considering some of the years we have been up there. We had some wind a few days, but that was about it. Most of the week we were in a hoodie in the morning, and it was high 70's to low 80's in the evenings. We all gathered in the evenings after dinner to enjoy the sunsets, star gaze, and catch up on the day outside of my trailer.

For the walleye....We all found success from Bullfrog to Good hope bay. The bite was better up north, as the water definitely had more of a stain to it up there. The size of the walleye were better up north as well. I'd say the average was near 20 inches, with quite a few near 24. Majority of fish were caught on bottom bouncers with crawler harnesses. I think everyone came home with about 75 to 100 walleye, except Scott and Steve. They stayed up north the whole week and killed it. They came home with at least 180.

As always we have a great group that goes. Everyone rallied when we got sick, or had boat issues to help. Thanks again to everyone that made it.

Great report Dave! Glad trip was an overall success.

We learned a bunch and the fishing seemed to change day to day with the weather conditions.
One take-away was to target the wind-blown points off the main channel. When you found them, it didn't matter what color your beads and spinner were on your worm harness. 15ft down to 35ft and not always on the bottom. The fish seemed to follow your harness for quite awhile before committing. 0.5 to 1.5 mph troll speed. Even caught a few vertical suspending the bottom bouncer and worm harness while spot-locked and casting jigs with a 2nd rod.

Our biggest was 23 inches but caught several more between 20-22". Average fish were larger than previous years. We figured the break the fish got in 2020 helped.

Wow, I saw this on a facebook walleye page, not a bad idea like those swordfish or tuna steaks you get.... but cook the walleye all the way through.

IAMMAC

Never really like fish steaks.....
