Bartlett / Bartlett Jan 25, 2025
Last post by FishMan - January 25, 2025, 08:00 PM
Fished Bartlett today with Alan "one hook". Stupid cold and wicked wind, but that didn't stop us. All the fish that were hunkerd down in the trees a month ago, are now schooled up and flying fast around the lake. Launched out of yellow cliffs and fished from Alder all the way past the no wake bouys upriver. Schools of crappie everywhere and they are on the move. Caught 15 or so crappie on variety of Jiggs. Then targeted bass, they were holding tight to the bottom, and droop shotting was only way to pick them off. Found several giant flatheads, but dispite them staring at our baits for minutes on end, could not get a strike.

Thanks Stevert, were you trolling those jigs or casting, and do you have LiveScope or going old school?

I just had them price up a cover for my 20 'Nitro.  $1.700, $2,200 if it needs to be a travel cover.  10 year warranty.

Not a complete bust but not full of action either.  Mike and I launched at 09:30 AM and fished until 1:30 PM.  Managed to pick up 6 pretty nice crappie.  All caught on BBC tipped with a minnow.  Fish were scattered, one or two together. Suspended anywhere from -5' to -15' below the surface.  Water temp 50+ Deg F.  Oddly enough, there was no wind. Should be better in a few weeks.

Liberty Awnings and Shades.  480-405-7856.  That's who made the first cover for my boat.  It lasted 6 year.  High quality.  Eventually they all fall apart if kept outside not covered.

I don't think Show Low lake has crappie? but Fools Hollow does with some habitat placed in the lake some years ago. If you were in Flagstaff just about every lake in the Williams area has crappie but they tend to be small, upper lake Mary has crappie and at times they get to good size. Willow Spring lake has limited number of crappie and have caught some decent size. The Green Valley park lake in Payson has lots of crappie but again they tend to be small. I don't know of any reservation lakes up there have have crappie?
