Title: Choke Canyon, Texas
Post by: IAMMAC on March 09, 2013, 07:59 PM
I hit up Choke Canyon today and got 4 Crappie. Got a late start and didn't get to the lake until 11, apparently it was a morning bite. O-well, I'll be going back Mon or Tue since it is suposed to rain all day tomorrow. I will try posting a pic. The pic is too big. It was a nice White Crappie.

That's cool.  I don't see too many white crappie except for what Fishless posts so let's see what they look like in Texas.

Nice, any size? Jigs or bobbers? Details, don't be teasing. You're making me consider buying a house over there again. I miss the coast!

Bruce, I don't think that I could have gone much shallower unless I had no bobber!  The fish are right on the shore and they were in VERY shallow water! Brian they were all caught on minnows. The bank was about 6"out then dropped off to 2'. The fish were right on the bank. As most of you know I don't BS my reports.  If you were 3' off the bank you would not get bit, that was my problem on Sat.

Mac, I had a lake in Colorado I fished in the spring and the Crappie were 1 ft from shore in 1 to 2 feet of water...  A lot of small rocks, but just dangle a minnow and have some fun...  Always caught enough for a couple fish fries...

Good luck, there and over seas...  We'll keep a seat open for ya here...   :3some:

hey Mac, just kidding I have had times at roosevelt when the lake was at 100% and took forever for the lake to warm up to spawning temps where I bottomed out the troll motor and casted up from there to find crappie

So that's what crappie looks like. Way to go, fishing is better there than here.
