Okay, I'm headed up tomorrow with my brother, cousin, and 92 year old Pawpaw to hopefully get him into some Crappie.  I know it's "fishing", and time spent together is what we're really after, but I will take any help I can get.

As I've said in a previous post, I have fished the Salt end a lot...mostly in my youth.  I talked to a gentleman today who fished all day yesterday on the Salt arm and didn't get a bite.  (Good talking to you by the way, Jesse...if you're on here).  So it looks as if I will fish the Tonto arm...for the first time.

Question is:  Should I do this?  Should I fish an unknown area, or fish the areas I know, even if the hot fishing maybe elsewhere?

I dunno.  Studying up my map :dontknow:  Got my minnows, jigs, heads, hooks, JDGs and BBCs...and a buncha other stuff including some kind of little Berkley jib bodies that look like actual minnows...swimming in scent, got my Tonto pass, and two full tanks...what I don't have is a plan.

Hoping to be on the water about 6:30 or 7...depending on the decision between Windy Hill or Cholla ramp.  I'm in a 18' white Renken Fish 'n' Ski boat with a silver (grey) Yamaha on the back.  Say hey to me if you see me.

guys from the club did pretty good on the salt end this last weekend. Art is a heck of a stick and there are times you will see him in a floatilla of boats bringing in fish and others are getting a sun tan, you can always join the floatilla on the Tonto end it may of changed but it used to be almost a social gathering with friends sharing info on depths, catch rates etc. so most will volunteer info if you ask or just watch. Exploring new areas can be a plan I fish a little different so I drive slowly through the floatilla of trollers often to fish up more shallow. There will be crappie moving up all over the lake so you can fish or troll any cove etc. on the lake with the possibility of finding your own big school to catch fish out of. There are days one group will catch great numbers of fish and another group will have zero or low numbers. Some guys are dipping minnows others are trolling heck even the speed of how fast your trolling can make a difference in catch rate etc. Crappie move especially this time of year, in Dave Nichols report had 41 one day went back the next and caught 8, so did the school move or just loose interest in feeding that day :dontknow:

Thanks for the report, Dave! Looks like you and your other half had some fun. Fourty-one crappies a day isn't too shabby.

Well, we're back!  Fished all day Wednesday, the 27th.  Ended up with 6 crappie and 3 bass. ...and my grandpa got several hits and boated a nice male.

Gotta run, but I promise to post the full report with some great pictures tonight.

Thanks, Fishless for the reply.

Back on soon-

Heading up Saturday. Can't wait. Was fishing the south side of Windy Hill the 17th and caught bass only. I did have a Rattlesnake surface in front of my line then swim right to me. Made it my profile pic. Glad I was paying attention. Had never seen one swim under water before.

Glad I joined the site finally. Good fishing everyone!
