Buddies boat is parked outside and his tracker cover is getting old and torn. He is wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good quality boat cover that will last a reasonable amount of time in the sun and be a potential travel cover as well to possibly take dirt roads to some lakes keeping most of the dust off the boat itself?
Thanks
I've always seen boats with covers made by the boat manufacturer be the best, longest-lasting, and fit perfectly. Of course, not always possible or feasible depending on boat maker. And they are very costly. Many options out there will work for a boat sitting outside, but once you say to travel with it then a few things become important.
I've had my boat parked outside and found many options on Amazon, but there are a few things to be sure of when buying one:
* Pick heavy duty option
* Pick higher density, denier so I went with 600D last time but have gotten 1200D before as well
* Size matters.... get the right fit/style for the boat. Too large and it'll flap around and be a problem driving in the wind
* Read warranty/guarantee in case it doesn't hold up when traveling
* Protect cover from any sharp edges like a windshield edge or anything else to prevent tearing
This is the one I bought in 2021 but I haven't traveled with it:

The straps go bad after a few years but the cover is still good no holes. The boat has been additionally covered outside using a shade sail or car canopy so usually no direct sun.
Matt I think he wants a custom cover for his boat made at an upholstery shop I have not had a cover made in years hoping someone has had good luck with a shop?
Liberty Awnings and Shades. 480-405-7856. That's who made the first cover for my boat. It lasted 6 year. High quality. Eventually they all fall apart if kept outside not covered.

I just had them price up a cover for my 20 'Nitro. $1.700, $2,200 if it needs to be a travel cover. 10 year warranty.
