Alamo / Fishing 12/11 and 12/12
Last post by Big Bird - December 12, 2025, 05:08 PM
Fished from 9-2 then wind picked up. Landed 12 only found singles and doubles with the very occasional wolf pack. Tons of bait so you have to bonk them on the head with it.

Second day we fished from 7:30-11. Landed 9 they were anywhere from 5-20 feet. All of them good sized

We also saw Mr. Crappie Sniper out there doing well.

Roosevelt / Seasonal Restrictions at Roose...
Last post by OneBlade - December 03, 2025, 06:42 AM
From the Arizona Game & Fish Department (AZGFD) on December 2, 2025: Seasonal restrictions in place as bald eagle breeding begins

For Roosevelt Lake: The closure area is quite small a circular area around the nest on the Tonto end and right now that area is out of water and only is really surrounded with water when the lake is near full. It is not a complete closure of the north/west Tonto end like previous years. At least that's what I gathered with help from Bruce (Fishless).

From the email from AZGFD: Tonto Creek inlet to Roosevelt Lake is closed to vehicle and foot entry within 1,000 feet of the nest on land and to watercraft within 300 feet on water from Dec. 1 to June 30. Contact the Tonto National Forest, Tonto Basin Ranger District, at 602-225-5395.

During the 2025 breeding season, 83 young hatched, and 71 reached the important milestone of their first flight, known as fledging.

Help conserve and protect bald eagles, and conservation research and recovery efforts, by reporting any harassment or shooting of bald eagles. Call AZGFD's Operation Game Thief hotline at 800-352-0700, or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service law enforcement at 480-967-7900.

It'll be really interesting to fish the lake in a few weeks when things settle down.  Not sure how long it'll take to clear up but imagine how far up river you can get....

I was there Saturday afternoon.  The lake looked to be about 10 feet from full.  I talked to one old boy who said he was there since Tuesday and the lake came up around 20 feet since then. Trash and debris floating everywhere north of the Yellow Cliffs landing.  Only fished 2 hours, did not catch a crappie.

It's up 7 feet in last 2 days.  Flows into Horshoe slowed down, but still way above normal. Hope-full for a great winter to restore all our waters...and then a stable spring for a successful spawn.
