The AZCA Bob Hirsch Crappie Classic (website / forum) is 5 weeks away and we need some fresh ideas on raffle prizes that crappie fishermen would enjoy. I know we'll be doing a couple BnM Diamond Series 8ft rods, an AZ Crappie Sniper Get Out and Fish kit, some AZ Lead Works jigs, and Mudshark Marine stuff but what else would you like to see as raffle prizes?

I have to submit the application with Tonto National Forest for our BHCC 2026 by Oct 1, 2025 this year.  I'm going to apply for Oct 17th as I think doing it later in Oct works out better with hotter weather we've had when we do it the first week of Oct.  Reply if you think Oct 17 works or not or if you'd prefer a different date.

** UPDATE **: The date of this event was Oct 11, 2025 but because of probably weather issues, it has been moved to Sunday, March 15, 2026.  Please update your calendars.

The Tonto Basin Firefighters Association, Let's Talk Fishin', and the Chamberlin family welcomes anglers of all ages to celebrate the life of a fishing legend!  Enjoy a day of fishing, meeting local firefighters, free food, and relive some of Art's greatest memories and stories.

This one-day bass tournament will follow Let's Talk Fishin' rules and guidelines.  50% payout.

Little Anglers' Tournament for children up to 12 years old, free food, fishing license and gift bags for all participants.

Many raffle items including: 50/50 raffle (to the Chamberlin family), helicopter ride around Roosevelt Lake, ice chest with gear, mens' gift box, and much more!

It's just under 10k now and curious what level they can't irrigate out of it, but fish could still survive.

Negative on the warmouth, just a giant bluegill and some of them just have amazing colors...here are a few more of the same species.

General Discussion / Worm Oil?

Awhile back I bought some worm oil to put on my old plastic worms. Was so impressed with the revival that I put it on all of them - except for the scented ones. After one year they looked and felt the same. so, I added worm oil to all my 'older' crappie baits too.

Well, after the latest storm ripped up my boat cover, the rain got in and flooded my crappie box. Replaced the boat cover and went to work on the crappie box. 80% of the jigs were wet and 10% had started to rust already. Salvaged what was worthy by wiping and setting them under a fan. Had the bright idea to add worm oil to them as well. This stuff has Plastisol Additives in it. Now I know anything petroleum based will melt Styrene items like bobbers. But in small amounts will it mess up the paint on the jig heads? I guess time will tell...
