So I got out to lake this morning around 9:30 or so figured the overcast wouldnt hurt sleeping in a lil. I was right. The water temp was 63 right when i got their and quickly raised to 66.8. I fished the cove just North of Yellow cliffs launch ramp. I started deep around 30ft and graphed bunch of fish no bites moved in to 15ft nibbles...  looked over by big rock in 2.5ft of water OMG!!! crappie already in spawn or picking a bed out for the lil slabbers to come. I tied on a chartreuse 1/8 oz jig with a green/sparkle twin tail. I threw out towards rock and saw slab turn to get but nothing. I tried for this fish for like 25 mins.  I tied on same jig but in 3/8 and boom fish on. Was the biggest crappie I have ever caught 1.9 oz. Caught a couple more 1 very pregnant female. Besides the big slab all other fish came out of 10Ft. Also caught one off a 1/8 oz chartreuse road runner with a blue slab daddy with salt. ill post a few pics of big Slab and prego female.

P.S. All fished were released with now harm. Even big boy. We need more big Slabs in bartlett only way to get them is to release them. Big fish have good genes.

Ya it was crazy. Lake is about 3 ft from being full and clarity on main lake sucks still but depending on current the and wind coves were starting to clear up. I could see about 2 ft down along shores. Oh ya today is first day of spring.  :headbang:

I might have to met you guys out their and check club out. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what kinda crappie that big slab is ( black or white)? I heard that it is number of spines on back. Whites 5-6 and Blacks 7-8. Also if is speckled or has striped up and down like small mouth. Figured you guys would be good to ask.

Congrats on the PB and great job on hunting and finding them.  :headbang:

The one on the cooler looks like a black crappie. Or at least what I've always thought black crappie looks like. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.  :ecomcity:
