Fished Alamo this past Friday and Saturday for the BHC. For a first timer I have to say, what a great lake with plus size, catchable crappie!

Boated 3 crappie trolling 10-15 feet down in 25-40 foot of water. The bite was very early for trolling with little action past 8am, the opposite for many other techniques it seemed.

To fish the BHC over again, I wouldn't have changed a single tactic for the first few hours of the day. I missed a double and had 3 fish break line, I made a serious mistake that I am still dealing with emotionally - intoxicated knot tying! :banghead:

The bait of choice were the usual Kalin's grubs in Acid Rain, JDG and BBC - tipped with a minnow. A couple of strikes and broken line on bare hooked minnow.

Congratulations to the total weight and big fish winners! Average size of the crappie here was fantastic, I'd say close to 1.5lb!
Have a Crappie Day

I would like to add that I believe I was fishing too deep. I would like to repeat the day with less line out and see the outcome. Great time Alamo, regardless!

10-12' seemed to be the happy zone!

After the mass exodus Sunday morning,,, (football you know),,, we went back out. Got two more right away (minnows at 20 ft) then nothing. The water clarity was better Sunday but the fishing was still tough.

You mind your business when it comes to your fishing and I will mind my own.
