Bartlett 12/27 - 12/28

Fished past the no wake buoys where the trees are sticking up out of the water.  Caught 14 crappie over 2 days.  We fished with jigs tipped with minnows.  Originally had weight 1/8oz weight and 2 1/8oz jigs but switched to lighter jigs and no weights hearing less weight/setup was working better.  All fish caught were over 11" with at least one at 15".   We used minnows but others had better luck without minnows and small jigs.  Not catching as much there - guessing area is either fished out or the crappie are moving.  Depth is 15-20'.

What a difference a day makes. Not even a bite for 5 hours one day and then 16 in 3 hours 2 days later!! The name of the game was SLOW and SMALL! I switched to 1 1/2 inch minnows. No jig, no tail,, just a minnow on one of those blue black wire hooks I won at Alamo (thanks!), with a 1/4 oz split shot about a foot up the line. I have Wed and Thursday off,,, may head back up for a day???
