was notified that the SB cove launch at Bartlett won't open till at least tomorrow 3/5, apparently TNF put up some orange plastic barrier fencing around the dock at SB launch when the lake was low to keep people away from it. They never checked it again :o and it is now underwater and they fear a boat launching may entangle their prop on the fencing material. They are waiting for MCSO divers to come out and remove fencing hopefully Tuesday :dontknow:------wouldn't hold my breath on that, might call first before heading to the lake if you want to launch at SB
I guess TNF people never look outside the office to see if it is raining? Bartlett has been coming up for over a month now >:( :dontknow:
I went Friday and Sunday to Bartlett. Friday a guy came and unlocked the old dirt ramp at SB. Then I thought he was driving over to main SB ramp to unlock but jus drove by. The two ramps are less than 50 yards from each other. I took my boat over to dock and their is plenty of water to launch. Sure would make life a lot easier for us crappie fisherman not having to go all the way around lake or go to flats and risk getting stuck.
Although I don't fish Bartlett but know lots of people who do. "Fishless", your right, the TNF field crews should have removed the barrier fencing prior to the lake rising. I know all FS crews are working thin during the winter months, I know it's not an excuse, but is a fact. A phone call to the Cave Creek office and speaking to a "recreational staff" officer might prevent this from happening next time. If the right people are presented with important information they should have time to act. Especially more so if a fishing club is going to call repeatedly to remind them what's important to the fishermen.
I just got off the phone with TNF and said that SB is open and yellow cliffs ramp is open. Finally!! :headbang:
Was just going to post that SB (cement ramp with dock) is now open, the yellow cliffs ramp is basically drive off the dirt up on the flats has been useable but use caution on launching to make sure ground under the tow vehicle is firm :dontknow:
used it wed. morning. all is good but with the water coming up fast the dock is about 3 feet out from the ramp so you will get your feet wet stepping on to it. I would guess they cant keep up with with the rise every day. ;D
dock is on rubber rolling tires and should move as a lake goes up and down (even if it is fast) club member called me yesterday to say the dock was hung up at SB so I called g and f, they are sending out a crew first thing this morning to fix the dock and get it back up moving like it should as the water comes up
