Title: Bart tomorrow night
Post by: ArZFisher on April 18, 2013, 10:32 PM
Well I just got done mounting some new LEDs lights in the interior of my boat. Some buddies and I are going to go out tomorrow night and try for some slabs. We're shooting to be their by 6 pm. If anyone else gonna be out their maybe will see each other. Ill either be in jack cove, echo, or the flats north of cats bay on the east side of lake. Pic of boat with lights in garage at bottom

Man that is nice...  Should be just what the Dr ordered for night fishing...

Green lights over the side, and we are talking psychedelic...

If anyone looking for some 12v flexible real bright LEDs I got these from maxxima. My step father works for The Light House here in AZ and he can get all kinds of lights. If anyone interested they come in a 18", 24", 36". But you can take them like I did got 2 36" and cut them into 12" pieces and soldered them back together with 2.5 ft of wire inbetween them or what ever length you want. You can either mount with flexible brackets the come with kit or 3M tape which is already stuck to back of lights just need some 3M promoter from sherwin Williams Auto. If anyone needs any type of light just PM me and ill see if I can't find for ya. Like I said my step father has worked their now for like 20 some years so I get a good deal.

It's funny u say that. I got a drop over green light but I've been looking at these water proof green LEDs that mount on the under neath of boat  well mine would mount to side sine I got alumi. But last time I checked on them lil pricy but I will have one day. 4 of them 1 per corner. Then all ill need is a disco ball and slabs would be comeing up to dance. Lol ill see if I can't find the lights and post link they are badass. They only downfall is they only for surface can't drop down lower if needed.

Your lights look great...I did a similar thing in my boat last year. Got 2 36" strips at Pep Boys for like 18 $ Ea. Put one on each side below the over hang on the rod locker covers. They light up the lower interior of the boat but you can not see the lights themselves from the normal sitting positions in the boat so night blindness should not be a problem w/them.
I read once where bugs are attracted to the heat from the incandescent bulbs and not the light itself and therefore they should not be attracted to LED's. Not sure I am buying that? Anyone have and experience with this?

So got on water last night around 7pm. Water temp was 67 most of night. The lake is so full I almost didn't recognize some areas. Water is up to trees along the flats. If they leave like this it's going to make for some good fishing. Found a spot in echo dropped anchor and lights and started getting bites 45 mins in. Real real light bite missed first couple then got some fish on the boat. Mostly all female couple males we had 10-12 for night. We were siting in 30 ft of water fishing inbetween two points. Started 6.5 down minnow bobber then went to 3.5 ft all depths 10' and up in 30 ft of water were catching fish. My buddy was jigging all night bbc with minnow then just bbc nothing.

Two females had eggs and no males didn't not go black. 1 female was hooked and bleeding  real bad so we kept her I'm going to do little investigating when I filet in a lil bit.

Good report, wondering if the upcoming full moon is going to bring some late spawners in?
How did your newly installed LED lights work out?

thanks

darn males that did not go black in the livewell are either done spawning and tried when SRP was dropping the lake :angry4: which probably means a lost spawn, or they have given up, good news a couple of the females have eggs unless they are just re-absorbing them and have given up, have not heard much about a shallow bite in weeks but SRP just finished raising the lake full so hopefully they will leave it alone for a while in case there are spawners waiting to move up this full moon :dontknow:

Did you get much for a ball of shad around the lights?
Did you launch at the flats or at the ramp at SB Cove? I tried launching from the Flats the other night but couldn't find a trustworthy spot to park my truck and ended up just going to SB Launch ramp.

We noticed that thier were more minnows under lights than anything. It look like to me that we had minnows on top, shad right below them then the slabs below the shad. We also caught 1 small cat and blue. I believe we launch from the concrete ramp by the flats. Fished one spot all night. Buddies kept saying lets move then we get fish then lets move then fish. I told them we are not leaving this spot. We are catching fish here why leave.  Best bite was after midnight to around 3am then they shut off.

I'm going out in mornin to check out lake during day. Their is so much new structure in lake right now  being so high it's gonna make for some good jigging. If anyone else going let me know ill stop by and hey. Hopefully be thier around 7ish. I'm going jigging all day no live bait.  Oh and LEDs are badass they put out so much light.

Actually no their was no gnats. Before when I just had transome light their would be a bunch of them flying rats. But last night I noticed their was not as many as I thought would be adding more light to boat. The LEDs are not visable to the eye. The are tucked up under a lip pointed out. They don't put off heat like regular lights and low voltage. I am looking for a replacement led bulb for my transome light then will see if a big difference. I also turn my brightness down real low on fish finder. Before when went out at night would come home with dozens of gnats dead on finder with brightness low just a few.

I use LED headlamps when night fishing and at times the bugs absolutely love them! I don't know about the heat thing but they will still come to the led light.

I forgot to post investigation work. Well out of the three fish we kept cause their was their of us a sandwich for each yum, 1 I knew was female other two one male and other female. Both females full of eggs. So I thinking and hoping the big wave is still yet to come with this full moon coming this week. Was out today and graphed tons of fish right under ledges to deeper water 40 ft. I mean loads of fish. Stacked out going up to shallower water. Looks like getting ready.

Wouldn't it be great if it "getting ready to happen".
Heard a report of some crappie action at night at Pleasant but it was a week ago Saturday, night fishing, 36 fish, but I did not witness any of this. Talked to a guy who claimed he had "done it" the weekend before.
I had "hearsay stories".

I just hope SRP leaves the dang lake along for a couple weeks as far as dropping the level etc. :notworthy:
