Title: shopping for Finders: to DSI or not?
Post by: Palo Verde on April 22, 2013, 08:25 AM

Shopping to buy a finder. Budget is around $400 or less. Both Lowrance and Hbird have units in that range with "Down imaging" (DSI and DI I think) which gives a pretty good - almost 3-D - image.

I have read  that the DSI Lowrance and DI Hbird are great for showing structure and the bottom, but Fish are hard to see on the graph. Any of you folks have personal experience with this? I would kinda like to see the Fishes  :D

Just got a sale flier from Cabela's, they have a Lowarance Elite 5 DSI Sonar w/GPS for $399. Marked down from $599. Sale date April 25-May 5. Sounds like a great deal!
I know nothing about the unit but have used Lowrance for many years.
Tried to find a link to post but it still has link to current sale, not upcoming.
