We had some really outstanding suppers last trip and I'd like to know if everybody is up for the group supper plan again this year?
To review, we assigned a couple people/boats to come in early from fishing on one certain day to cook supper for the rest of our crew. They provided a complete meal for that evening. After cooking supper on their assigned day, supper duty was passed on to another group/boat leaving them free to fish longer into the day knowing supper will be ready for them when they get back that evening.
All breakfast, lunch & beverages of choice will be your own responsibility.
Due to people's varied arrival times on Saturday - supper for that day on you.
We usually have a fish fry on the last evening there, which is Friday. We ask that you keep a very small portion of your weeks catch in reserve for the fish fry. Any leftovers from the weeks suppers are also finished up that night. But if you would like to bring a side dish for that day, please let us know.
So this leaves 5 evening suppers to plan for. Please let us know if you're willing to be part of the group supper or if you plan on going it alone, which is fine also.
Look's like this year we have around 19 people going on this trip to plan meals for.
Let me know what I need to pitch in for our night.
Supper schedule would look something like this.
Saturday, April 26th - Arrival day with supper being your own responsibility
Sunday evening -
Monday evening -
Tuesday evening -
Wednesday evening -
Thursday evening -
Friday evening - Fish fry! Will need a volunteer to two to do the frying. Eat any leftovers. Might need a couple side dishes??
Saturday, May 3rd - Leave for home!
I'll take the 1st crappie weather day or Tuesday. As long as I have an oven that works this year. I already have 2 pork shoulders ready for pulled pork and possibly a brisket if I feel like cooking all that. I'm flexible on the date if some folks need to cook up some stuff right away.
Freshwater & the Merlot Kid would do on Monday :3some:
We'll also need a couple extra folding tables, paper plates & utensils to share with the group
We will have a 6' folding table along and a Frying Saucer
I will bring paper plates, paper bowls, napkins, forks, spoons, and knives.
Are we skipping Sunday (wasn't listed for the days to signup)? I guess let's see how many sign up for meals and we go from there. Also, just so we don't duplicate meals, include what you might bring (Freshwater/MerlotKid).
Menrats and I will bring Elk, Bison, and Blue Cheese burgers, fettucinni, and a green side. Anybody know the grill situation at the trailers or where Freshwater/MerlotKid will be camped out? We'd like to BBQ them but need a large enough grill. We'd like to do Sunday. Here's the updated schedule and what everyone is bringing:
Saturday, April 26th - Arrival day with supper being your own responsibility
Sunday (Menrats and OneBlade) - BBQ burgers, fettucinni, and green side.
Monday (Freshwater and MerlotKid) - what is the main dish?
Tuesday (Wadefisherman) - 2 pork shoulders for pulled pork and possibly a brisket
Wednesday (Fish Hawk, Sparkchaser & LLL) - Cavatini, garlic bread & side salad
Thursday -
Friday - Fish fry! Mike & Debbie have volunteered to bring their fryer & do the frying. Eat any leftovers. Might need a couple side dishes??
Saturday, May 3rd - Leave for home!
OneBlade -- Paper plates, forks, spoons, knives, bowls, napkins
Freshwater/MerlotKid -- 6' folding table along and a Frying Saucer
LLL - another folding table
All breakfast, lunch & beverages of choice will be your own responsibility.
Reminder, plan right now for 19 people.
Last year we said meal time was 7:30pm but not sure if that's what resulted. Seems a little late but I think we can try that again. I'm open to suggestions if we want to bump that up to 7pm.
Dave & my friends Mike and Debbie have volunteered to take care of the fry duties on Friday. We'll need to see about sides for that day. Was wondering if Brian could possible make his sliced potatoes again this year to go along with the fish fry?
Bill, Dave & I will take Wednesday evening as we're planning on making our Cavatini pasta dish again complete with a truck load of garlic bread & side salad.
I will also bring a folding table.
Matt, I added to your post above. I talked with Dick & Tim at SCF but will email them to check out this thread. Sounds like we just about have this figured out - good job guys!!

Freshwater will be camped right next to the family units & the small store where they will have full hookups. As for the grill situation, think the units do have a small charcoal grill but not 100% sure.
I see Thursday is open so fill my group in for that day. The women are still discussing meal so will provide that later.
Merlot says Ham and trimmins
Will do one meal day, if available. White chicken chili. Need to know how manyl
SteveJ -- All days are already booked so not sure when to fit in your white chicken chili.
We do need several (3?) sides for the Friday fish fry. If someone would rather bring those instead of their meal, I can fit SteveJ's chili in.

Coleslaw for fish fry.
Hey Steve - is there any chance you could possibly provide a second side for the fish fry night?
And then a question for all - do we really need deserts? Speaking for myself, I was stuffed last year after all the great meals and was ready for night night......
I've never been a big desert guy, except on turkey day.
I could pass on dessert. Yes we need 1-2 more sides for Friday so let's see if SteveJ can provide 1 or 2 more and go from there. Brian, were you going to fry your potatoes on that Friday?
I was hoping to leave my frying gear at home this trip, if freshwater wants to set up his frying saucer I'm sure we can't get some spuds a simmering!
Done Deal :3some:
Will add fruit to fish fry also.
Wadefisherman, were you going to bring potatoes/oil/seasonings or did you want Freshwater to? Sorry, if a hassle we can leave out the potatoes altogether as we have fish, 2 sides, and any leftovers already.
Everyone o.k. with 7:30pm mealtime or would anyone prefer earlier? I prefer 7pm.

The women in our group has made the decision for Meat loaf and scallop potatoes along with a vegatable. Does anyone know what the cooking pots and pans sizes are? We may have to borrow from a couple of cabins plus maybe even a second stove. I hate to drag that stuff north.
sauerrj aka one lastcast.
Dick, the cookware varies from unit to unit & would hate to get there only to find out they don't have the pots & pans you need. For my meal, I usually buy those disposable aluminum pans such as these: http://www.mazerwholesale.com/aluminum-foil-pans they travel well, don't have to clean & throw away afterwords.
As for an additional stove, I'm sure we can figure out something when your meal day comes around.
Last questions to answer:
Wadefisherman, were you going to bring potatoes/oil/seasonings or did you want Freshwater to? Sorry, if a hassle we can leave out the potatoes altogether as we have fish, 2 sides, and any leftovers already.
Everyone o.k. with 7:30pm mealtime or would anyone prefer earlier? I prefer 7pm. Please chime in. Obviously we can adjust once we're out there but want to make sure we all know time for day 1 Sunday's meal.
I'll bring a sac of spuds, oil & seasoning & my tartar sauce.
For me, sitting at my desktop, I prefer 7pm. Reminds of the Navy days. 12 hour shift, eat, s*it, shower, shave, bed, repeat.
you chit at night in the military? that's fed up mon.
Mealtime moved to 7pm. Need food for 19 people. Reply here if you want to change mealtime or we can change depending on how things go on the first night.

Thanks Matt for getting this put together!!
For supper times - We can start out with supper at 7pm & see how that works. There will always be a few that are on the fish and will come in a bit late so we might need to keep them in mind. We probably won't wait for them but might need to keep a plate or two warm for them when they finally do arrive.
For Friday's fish fry - like was mentioned before, please reserve a few fish from your days catch to share with the group on Friday. Not saying it has to be Walleye but if you do catch some Smallmouth or good size Blue Gills, they'll be prefect for the fryer also. So please keep that in mind during the week.
Anybody have any final thoughts or questions about grub time?
I'm gonna donate at my stripers to the fish fry :lol_hitting:
Yeah, and we know how that turned out :sign0137:
