Title: Powell Fishing Derby
Post by: cousinlll on April 19, 2014, 10:57 AM
Who's interested in a little fishing derby?  TommyRats idea so what do you guys think.......

This will be an INDIVIDUAL derby - not a team event!  Cost will be $10 biggest Walleye & $10 biggest fish or a $20 bill all in.

Thinking this is how it's gonna work - there will be NO official weigh in.  Derby will begin on Sunday morning so please get your entry $$ in on Saturday.

1)  LLL catches big ass Walleye - other guys in the boat weigh it & record its weight by taking a cell phone picture of the fish being weighed & close up of the scale for proof of catch/weight.  REMEMBER - YOU'RE ON THE HONOR SYSTEM HERE!!!!  We're going to trust that the pic you're submitting was actually caught on that day, not something you caught in Leech Lake, MN two years ago.  You are then free to either let the fish go or toss him the live well.

2) At each nights supper we will keep a tally of every entrant's catch for that day.  Again, you MUST provide proof of catch & weight by cell phone or regular camera picture.

3) Winner(s) will be announced at Friday's fish fry.

Looking for a volunteer to take, hold & divide up the cash along with a tally taker.........

Title: Weigh Scales

I guess we need to make sure that everybody scales are reading in the same units of measure - in just LB or LB & oz whatever it many be....

Game On!!  10 people in so far.  Decided to make it biggest Walleye & biggest goon fish by length as it'll be the easiest for everybody.

19" Walleye caught by yours truly taking the very early lead. Never mind that Team Sparkchaser was the only boat on the lake today.....  :headbang:

Big fish leaders remain the same due to an Oy Vey moment LLL had with a 21" walleye that failed to get photographed......  :angry4:   :dontknow:

Well boys & girls - I know you've been waiting for the final results so here we go......

We had 12 people get in on the big fish derby

Goon Fish - We have a tie with both Matt & Debbie boating a 24" Striper splitting the $120 prize

Walleye - The biggest Walleye prize went to Me N Rats with Tom boating a 21 1/4" Walleye winning the $120 pot
