Title: 2015 Lake Powell Meal Planning
Post by: cousinlll on March 20, 2015, 05:03 PM
We had some really outstanding suppers last trip and I'd like to know if everybody is up for the group supper plan again this year?

To review, we assigned a couple groups/people/boats/trailer (however you guys want to divide the meal duties up) to come in early from fishing on one certain day to cook supper for the rest of our crew.  They provided a complete meal for that evening.  The group comes to your trailer for supper.  After cooking supper on their assigned day, supper duty is passed on to another group/boat/trailer leaving them free to fish longer into the day knowing supper will be ready for them when they get back that evening.  It'll be up to Matt & the group to decide what time supper will be served.

All breakfast, lunch & beverages of choice will be your own responsibility.

Due to people's varied arrival times on Saturday - supper for that day on you.  We usually arrive early enough on Saturday to get a few hours of fishing in.  So for that first evenings meal I/we usually make something in a crockpot (like Chili) that'll be ready for us when we get back.  There's usually enough to share with your trailer mates.  That will be up to those that share a trailer.

We usually have a fish fry on the last evening there, which is Friday.  We ask that you keep a very small portion of your weeks catch in reserve for the fish fry.  Any leftovers from the weeks suppers are also finished up that night.  But if you would like to bring a side dish for that day, please let us know.

So this leaves 5 evening suppers to plan for.  Please let us know if you're willing to be part of the group supper or if you plan on going it alone, which is fine also.

Look's like this year we have around 6 or 7 boats and 14 people going on this trip to plan meals for.

Matt will be taking charge of the meal day assignments but please make a post of to 1) if you plan on joining us or going it alone 2) your thoughts of what you plan on making for the group and 3) if you have any preference on which day you'd like to cook.

Depending on how things fall out - I'm willing to once again this year cook my Cavatini and garlic bread w/ side salad.  No preference on which day.

Sandman & Hawk - I can make a crockpot of chili to share for Saturday evening if you guys would like?

We have a little freezer that we usually bring for the group or for the trailer. I don't want to bring it if anyone else is bringing one. Too cluttered. To Mark and Marvin, are you bringing a freezer?

Last year we did mealtime at 7pm.  I think that worked out good.  Let me know if you'd like that changed though and we can adjust.

Our current count is 14 people.  You are welcome to sign up for your own day or assist in the Friday fish fry by bringing your frying equipment, batter, oil, etc.

Larry brought another table.  I forgot if that helped but seems like it did.  Can you bring it or someone else bring a table?

I'll bring paper plates, forks, spoons, knives, bowls, napkins

All breakfast, lunch & beverages of choice will be your own responsibility.

Looks like Marvin and I have Friday night which is great. The planned meal is home made chicken and noodles served over mashed potatoes with corn and home made cookies from scratch. Maybe a salad if that does not interfere with the carb loading.

To mjhewitt neither of us has a portable freezer that sure would be a bonus if you decide to bring it. We will have plenty of coolers and can bring dry ice if you prefer.

I will bring our little box freezer. It seems like we never have enough freezer space and everyone is welcome to use it.
