To everyone, and anyone interested. I have done all I can do by phone. Jeremy has moved on to greener pastures unfortunately. I have called and pleaded to try and get the prices as we saw last year to no avail. The lowest price I could manage was $230 before taxes per night. That number was obtained from Robin at the Phoenix Groups Dept. 800-645-1119. It was also confirmed with calling directly to the marina and talking to Brian at 435-684-3025. Also to note that there are only 3 units available to rent. The 4th is being updated as per Brian. If we absolutely needed the space, they might be able to accommodate us.
So, at this point we need people to commit to the trip. We need to act fast and secure the reservations. I think that the inflated price of the trailer would be offset by the lower price in gas. I have not made any reservations as of yet, but the dates I called for was April 30th through May 7th. Being that we have limited space, please commit to the trip here. Then we would assign someone in your group to make the reservation, as we did last year.
I'm in. Jane & Me.
I'm in. And if we need additional people I have a few interested, but let's fill with Crappie Members first. The price is what it it Dave, thanks for your efforts.
I'm in for this trip. I just don't know if for the whole week or half week. I'm hoping my boat mate menrats confirms. Hoping to take my boat. Looking forward to the trip.
This one might actually be doable for me, I'll have to check my school schedule.
Stevert, Struckman and Marvin VP are all-in.
I plan to call tomorrow morning for one last effort with Robin at 928-645-1119. Last call indicated that they could only offer a 20% discount which is reflected in the current offer of $230 per night. I expressed our prices last year, and she said she would try to work some magic. Currently we have enough people to rent two trailers, but I know there are more that have not posted. I'm going to assume we would need the third trailer. With the limited space, this will be a first come first served deal. I'd like to have the numbers and preliminary details worked out by tomorrow, so we can get our reservations confirmed.
I think you can add Larry and myself. We'll be there
Freshwater is in now I have to see if anybody wants to back seat a pontoon :3some:
We are all Trailer trash!!! The more trash the better.
Just a quick update. I was able to secure the three trailers for the dates of April 30th through May 7th. Per Robin at Phoenix Groups Department I should be receiving a confirmation notice within 24 hours. At that time, we will figure out the sleeping arrangements, and continue on with planning the trip.
We are tentative. Can't lock down for another couple of weeks.
Ok folks this is the email I received from Robin confirming our reservation.
Good Morning Dave,
Below are the confirmation numbers for the family units at Halls.
You will need to secure them with credit card(s) a minimum of 30 days prior to arrival to avoid cancellation of the units. If not confirmed and released back into inventory the availability and special rate cannot be guaranteed.
Let me know if you have any questions.
3 Halls Crossing Family Units 4/30-5/7 (7 nights)
Confirmation numbers 14X6Y4, 14X6Y5 and 14X6Y6
Special Billing/Revenue Code: FASFAM ($230.00+++).
Best regards,
Robin
We have some time to fill the units, and figure out sleeping arrangements, as some people are still undecided. At least we know the units are reserved, and the dates.
Thanks Dave. Appreciate the effort.
I'm ready Thanks Dave
Ok folks we really need to get a final headcount so we can move forward with the planning. Here's what I see:
All in for the trip: CousinLLL, FishHawk, Sparkchaser, FishMan, Oneblade, Stevert, On the Rocks, Marvin, Timbo, Jane, Freshwater
Jerry are you coming solo?
Possibly coming: Sandman, Patti, IAMMAC
Anyone else that I missed or was holding out?
Also possible are WheatThin and MenRats
If MenRats joins this year. I vote on him bringing the Gyro fixings again. I still brag about that dinner to my friends. The heck with lodging....lets start working on our dinner list.
Ok here is how it shakes down.....
Trailer 1:
CousinLLL, FishHawk, FishMan, OneBlade
Trailer 2:
Stevert, Marvin, Timbo and Jane, Sparkchaser
Trailer 3:
?????
As said above in the thread, Brian the manager at the Marina said there might be a possibility of securing a 4th trailer, but could not guarantee it would be ready in time. If in fact we need the space for others to come along, I'm sure we can make it work. As we almost always find a way to make things work out.
Tentative edit after the update from On the Rocks, and Freshwater
Great work Captain Dave!!!!
Due to an immediate family members health I have to unfortunately bow out of this trip. I wanted to let you all know asap so any other interested person would know there will be an open bed. I will miss not being able to attend and fishing with you all. Of course if you have too many walleyes or small mouth bass for your freezer I could take some off your hands. Good luck to all and I will be on the water with you next year.
I will not know for sure if I can go until my school schedule is finalized at the end of Feb.

Boo ...that's rough. Hang in there. Steve.
I am another like On the Rocks, With heavy heart will have to with draw from the lodging list. I went through pneumonia in my left lung in Nov. and was on the mend and then around Christmas came down with a viral respiratory infection. I feel better but the changing weather keeps me at arms length. We talked it over and the smart thing is to stay close this year. Dang The Freshwatertramp. :crybaby2: Catchem I'll enjoy reading of your exploits.
Jerry sorry to hear your not going to make it. Glad to hear your on the mend.
Hope to see you soon
Sorry to hear the news on both accounts. You both will be missed, and here's to better health for you and your family.
With the current updates we now have a couple of openings. There are still a few members who have not been able to get final confirmation on whether or not they can make this trip. (Sandman, Patti and IAMMAC) Both have indicated the end of February as the target date. Have not heard any more from WheatThin or MeNRats.
With who we have now we can make it work with two trailers. CousinLLL and myself would be willing to use a cot for the week. At this point I suggest we wait to hear from the above mentioned for confirmation.
What do you guys think?
So long as the worms have a safe, secure, and cool location to sleep. I don't care where you stick me. Remember, if you take care of your worms, your worms will take care of you.

Bravo Dave. We can all take a turn on the cot if need be.
As of now I plan to be there for a partial trip. I'll probably head up on Tuesday or Wednesday. I think you all know me well enough that I don't care where I sleep either. If there is a boat deck open I'll sleep just fine....
sparkchaser,
The number you give in your first post about Brian at the Marina is incorrect. It is for some agency in Texas. Could you re post the number. I'm considering taking my motor home later in the year to wait for better weather and would like to talk to Brian as to what the fishing is like as the weather warms up in June. The per day cost is now to the point whare I can take a tow car and my MH up and camp for less that the cost of a week or more of daily rental costs.

Sorry about that. I got the area code wrong, and updated the number in the OP. Thanks for the heads up.
OK everyone here is the final shakedown for the trailers:
Trailer 1: OneBlade, FishHawk, CousinLLL, WheatThin conformation number 14X6Y4
Trailer 2: Marvin, Stevert, Timbo and Jane confirmation number 14X6Y5
Trailer 3: FishMan, Sparkchaser, Kelley and Patti confirmation number 14X6Y6
One person in your group needs to call Robin Marquis at 928-645-1119 ext 1 and secure the trailer with a down payment. One thing to note, Robin is currently out of the office until the 13th. I will call on the 14th to get the exact down payment amount and take care of our trailer.
Just wanted to update you all. I was in Dallas for the last week and unable to contact Robin until today. She is sending a deposit request via email and assured me we are still on for our requested dates. As soon as I have the email, I'll post it it here.
I'm probably going to have to set this year out. I'll know more after seeing the surgeon on 4-8
Wow... I know this is a lot more than we paid last year. Here is the info I got regarding the final rate and payment information. Call Christy at the office number below. She will be expecting full payment for the week because they gave us a special rate. Guess they normally book out at 330 per night? Use the confirmation number 14X6Y5 or 14X6Y6 when making your reservation. I used 14X6Y4 for our trailer.
Hello Dave,
Each reservation is $270.87 per night or $1,896.09 grand total per unit. I have attached a credit card authorization form or you can call me at the number below to make payment over the phone.
Christy Pieroni | Aramark | Group Operations Manager | Lake Powell Resort & Marina | Mesa Verde National Park | Togwotee Mountain Lodge | Parks and Destinations
Office: 602-331-5232 Fax: 602-391-2504 Mobile: 480-489-6155
I guess the way I'll validate the cost is to realize what a deal we had the past few years. Thanks for getting it all reserved!
Not going to make it this year. Christian got a call on Monday that he will be leaving for Basic Training 7 June, 2 months earlier than we expected. Now we have to move our European vacation up 2 months and I can't justify the money for this this trip at this time. I'm sure y'all will have a great time as usual and the boats will be filled with fish! Just like the Cubbies......there is ALWAYS next year!
Wow. $270/night for those trailers?? I've got to buy me some trailers to park up there! I could make a good profit even after paying campsite rental.
So long as for $270 they come with ovens free from mice, We can all consider it a win. Thanks for your hard work Dave. You still saved us over $350 a cabin with your negotiating.

Exactly. Honestly the cost we got prior years was unreal. It'll be interesting how things work out next year. Aren't these remaining trailers on their last days? We may have to pull campers next year?

Yep. We're probably pre-paying for the replacements :)
Again thanks to Dave for hooking this up.

Cancellation Policy:
Rich (WheatThin) gave me a call and unfortunately has to back out of this trip (has a house sale closing that got shifted to next week). So.... I spoke with Larry and rather than us try and split the cost of the 3rd trailer we're looking to bunk in the 2 existing trailers. That'll lower everyone's cost. However, I need to call tomorrow to check the cancellation policy on the 3rd trailer I have booked. We had to reserve 30 days in advance and pay up front so I have my doubts..... Will check tomorrow though.
Hey everyone, as Matt stated I had to back out of a commitment. We had a delay in the closing of the house I'm flipping due to the seller who had been promising an early closing. I've been working nonstop to get back everything lined up and this is causing me to miss the Powell trip. To Matt and Larry, I have a check ready for my portion of the trailer should the cancellation not be allowed, I cant leave you guys hanging on that part of my commitment. Matt, I'm also sorry to back out as the carpool buddy. Wish you all the luck and I look forward to reading the reports late at night. Sorry to bail out so last minute.
OK, the 3rd trailer reservation for Tue-Sat has been cancelled and my money should all be refunded. So we are good to go there. Dave, if you can cancel the 1/2 flat of nightcrawlers go for it. If you can't, that's fine we'll take them. I'll be driving up Monday or Tuesday, depending on work/kids/weather.
Anybody have a cot they can lend me? I have an air mattress and that may work fine so no big deal.
Alright Timbo. Looks like it will be your place for Poker and late night Lake Powell shanangins. And by late night, I mean 8:30.......don't forget, I've got some next morning first light walleye to catch.
