Post by: sparkchaser on November 15, 2021, 05:42 AM
Hey everyone. I may not be doing the Powell trip this year, someone else will have to organize it. Reservations are open on their website.

Let's start with seeing who is interested in going up again.

I'm in for this trip so I'll try and organize the accommodations. I've gotten the discount for the last few years, and I'll try and do the same for this trip.

We are targeting dates of April 23rd to April 30th, or April 30th to May 7th. Please let me know if there is a conflict on either.

So far we have interest from:

Steve S
Marvin
Larry
Bill
Scott
Steve D
Tommy
Dave

Two of Steve S friends staying in their own camper

Two of mine and Larry's friends from work that only want to do 4 days in their own trailer.

Anyone else?

Also, we will be staying at Halls Crossing this time

Dave,

If Mark mentioned is the same as On the Rocks I will not be attending. (Maybe a typo and should say Marv)

Reservations have been made. I tried hard to get the discount we've had in the past and thought I worked it enough, but no. The price per trailer will be 287 per night. As soon as I get the email confirmation I'll post it here with the breakdown.

Again...the dates are April 23rd to April 30th for most of us going

Here are the confirmations. 3 trailers with 9 of us going.

Total will be 6041.70 that will be split 9 ways. Comes to 671.30 per person for the week.

With gas prices, plus the lake level, I thought it would be better to stay at Halls Crossing. I really tried to work the same deal we have gotten in the past, which is 20% off. It's the slip and buoy discount. This year they wanted mooring and slip number information. The gal flipped and flopped, but ultimately she said she could loose her job for giving it to us. That was the end of the fight for me.

So... we will have the same line up in trailers as this year.

Trailer 1:

Larry
Greg
Bill

Trailer 2:

Steve S
Marvin
Tommy

Trailer 3:

Steve D
Scott
Dave

We will also have 2 friends from work joining us in their own trailer for the first 4 days not included in the above pricing.

Rich B
Chris S

I saw that Stevert mentioned some friends coming as well that were pulling a camper.

The new reservations are made. We will be staying at the Bullfrog family units in 3 trailers. Dates are May 14th to May 21st. Total price came to 5298.30 for the week or 588.70 per person if we continue with 9 people.

They would not give me a guarantee that I can cancel within the 30 day window if the ramp extension was not done. Told me to call back at the 30 day mark, and they would decide then. She told me that they have never given a refund within the 30 day window, only modified a reaervation. So....we will have to hope the ramp is well on its was and on schedule by mid April.

I spoke to Aramark this morning. They are aware of the current state of the lake but would not change policy on cancellations. The recommendation was to change the date or cancel. Therefore, I have cancelled our reservation. It was mentioned that there are now 7 family units available after our cancellation. We can try and rebook in the next few weeks if the lake rises, or just pull the plug now. As it stands, we are down to 7 participants.

After consideration, I have removed myself from the above list. To many variables for me to consider this trip.

The reservation I made is cancelled. Doesn't mean the guys left can't go.

I still have all that time off.  Plan to fish Bartlett 3 times that week we were supposed to be at Powell...Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Ping me if you want to meet up.  I can pick up minnows.

Planning to hit the Black River if anyone's interested.

Arrive Fri May 13th - set up camp
Sat May 14 Fish
Sun May 15 Fish
Mon May 16 break down camp and head home.

Planning to stay on the Apache side, not 100% settled on the location yet.

Permits are $20/day

Campsites are spartan, roads are 4x4, and it's a rigorous hike up/down to the river but the smallmouth action is second to none.
