Title: Roosevelt Fri-Sat Dec 13-14
Post by: OneBlade on December 15, 2024, 07:55 AM
Tommy (Fishman) and I fished Roosevelt Fri-Sat for LTF tournament.  We fished areas ranging from 20ft to 40ft deep and primarily fished trees using jigs tipped with minnows as well as bare hook with minnow type setup. We used Livescope to target crappie in those trees and fished the Salt side several areas. Tommy actually caught several crappie using a nightcrawler.

Also, Tommy has a cool method to return crappie back to the depths so they can survive.  When we would bring up crappie from deep their air bladders would expand and then when we'd put them back in the water they'd float.  So Tommy attaches the fish using a bent out lightwire hook along with heavy heavy weight and gently puts that in the water and the fish is sent back to the depths, then when they are at the bottom their bladder returns to normal and with a slight tug the fish breaks away from the bent hookk and is free to become that 3lb-er we plan to catch later.  Cool tip Tommy.
