Title: June 7th Lake Mary Flagstaff
Post by: FishMan on June 08, 2025, 06:05 PM
Fished day 2 at Lake Mary, way more traffic on Saturday vs Friday, but most of that was kayaks, paddle board, swimmers, and those just seeking fun. The ramp was a Zoo, but not from boater, from people just having fun. Very few actual boaters as the sketchyness of the ramp is real, and likely scaring people away. My prop has a new flesh wound, but it will live. Learned from day 1, landed 10+ pike, one solid Walleye in 2 foot of water, and about 15 crappie, again caught 1, 2, 3 year old fish. Lots of fish in open water, we didn't do it but wouldn't be surprised if old school long line trolling of roadrunners would have done well. While targeting the crappie, it was fun to watch the pike cruise in and then get to catch them. I've used wire leader here my whole life, and this weekend caught about 8 pike on a 1/32 jig head with 2 inches of nightcrawler and 12# fluro, so there goes that theory.  Main lake 70 degrees at the end of the day, and one of the large females was squirting eggs when in the boat.   It was a great weekend, perfect temps, zero rain, no wind.
