As long as you use a minimum of SPF-50 any brand should do just fine. Consumer Reports has rated the Target Up and Up brand of sunscreen as one of the best. To get a 100% sun block use zinc oxide ointment (it will be a white color after it is applied). Covering the skin with clothing or a cap that shades the area are additional steps you can take. Good luck!

oh gross :o

being born and raised here and swimming and life guarding for years and no one talking about skin cancer or protection back then I see the dermatologist every year and have had 5 pre-cancers cut and froze off of my face and shoulders in the last 10-15 years :(. If you are outdoors whether at work or play good idea to be checked every year :headbang:. I have not found a good sun block spray or cream that either is not greasy, smelly etc. Sprays make a mess and many of them stain clothing and you smell like a cheap new orleans hore, the nice smelling ones appear to me to attract bees, and if you sweat they smear or get in your eyes etc. I went ahead and bought the sunblock clothing which are light weight and very breathable and then a large brim hat, (and don't forget a good pair of UV blocking sunglasses) :headbang:

Same here. Some sunscreens can even take the paint off your reels. I try to get sort of a base tan early in the season to prevent the excessive burns and then cover up.

Fishhawk had some pretty cool gloves last year. I think they were for saltwater fly-fishermen or something. Those would help too.

Seems most of you have had the experiences I have with sunscreens, not that good. The extra clothing does help. I will report back on Blue Lizard Sunscreen.

That is why I switch to night fishing when the sun gets intense.  :3some: Glad to see they caught it early Bill.

Well, Blue Lizard is not bad. I need to buy #50 instead of #30. It does go on a little slimmy like all sun screens but does not leave a sticky slim behind after about an hour or so after applying

I've been using coppertone spf 50 from Costco for years. I put it on all over my face and arms before I leave in the morning. I tend to reapply at least once during the day. Seems to work well. I wear long breathable pants and shoes with a light cotton shirt. Wide brim hat too. I probably look like a dork but I figure the fish don't care what I look like. If I see some Blue Lizard around I'll give it a try.
