Do you guys think there is a big difference between using live minnows on a jig opposed to using those packaged emerald shiners? I wouldn't think it would make a huge difference if you're casting or trolling, but we got the big 0 using those and seemed like some others did well on live minnows.

Live bait is first  just a natrual thing.

Yeah, kinda what I figured. We always used live minnows in Michigan, the guy at Sportsman's warehouse was telling me it really wouldn't matter when tipping a jig with it but when I used them they were kinda stiff and un-natural. Thanks for the response.

Live bait will catch way more fish, live shad is best.

I also agree with the others that have said live verses pre-packaged bait is the best. Dead is dead and the Crappie know it!

Yeah, those things were stiff as a board when I broke them out. I don't know what I was thinking. Seemed to make sense at the time but I think it was because I was being lazy and didn't want to stop for minnows, LOL.

I can definitely relate to that!

Can you throw a cast net to catch live bait in this state?
