Well guys, I've been doing a little reading and seems like this year the lake will be at the lowest lake level we've ever seen since our Powell trips started.  As of April 17th, the current lake level is at 3564' and slowly dropping.  From the little I've read, this years snowpack pretty much is non existent and they do no expect the lake to rise anytime soon.  Some say maybe a little after we've come and gone from our trip.  And then the lake rise will be little to none.  So, all our spots from previous years just might be high & dry.

Here are the lake levels from May 1st from the last few years.  April 17th level is showing about 7' lower than the May 1st 2019 year.

And with that said, it looks like the main Bullfrog ramp is closed being some 11" out of the water.  I've read that the only open ramp is the "Executive Ramp" at the Marina.  I have read that some might possibly be shore launching to one side of the main Bullfrog ramp but I don't have confirmation of that or how feasible it actually is.

And I've also read, given the crowds, trailer parking can be an issue w/ a long walk back to the launch.  Bring your sneakers & bicycles......

I'll continue reading up on things.....

I started looking after Bruce posted about it in another thread. Getting out of Bullfrog should be interesting. Not only the ramp, but there are flats and I'm sure whales everywhere. I'm certainly going to take it slow Saturday and establish some good tracks on the water.

On a side note, we shouldn't have to go to far to get on the walleye. We've always done good on the channel points and drop offs. Should be interesting.
SEA.....HAWKS....

Waynes word they are talking about all those issues one guy reported that launching from the dirt was no issue and others saying you may get stuck? I think I read somewhere they are talking another spring flush of Lees Ferry :dontknow: which would drop the lake even more. They are saying most of the whale tails are marked now in bull frog. Person could make some $$ providing shuttle service from the ramp to the parking :dontknow:

Launched at 7 am next to the main ramp launching was easy and went smoothe. The walk to parking is another story bring your hiking boots. We headed uplake and camped in Red Canyon right under Castle Butte. Got camp set and started fishing about 10 am. Our main focus was walleye. Started bottom bouncing from camp along the north shore out towards the mouth and caught several walleyes. At 1 we headed for the Horn to see how it was doing. Caught several walleyes there but activity was slow. Headed back to camp for some lunch and to make a new plan. After lunch we moved to the south side red canyon and began again. We came across a point that had a flat extending off of it and hooked up we turned back and hooked up again. We never left this spot for 3 days all total we caught over 70 walleyes off this spot.
4/17
Wind was up which made boat control difficult. The walleyes were still in our location and biting all day morning to night. Water temp was 55 in am and approaching 60 in evening. We were using 2 ounce bottom bouncers and most fish were coming in about 20 feet of waterthough we had shallow bites and deeper bites. caught a full live well and headed to camp.

Wind was really tough today. Water temps were the same but wind was so high we could only make passes into the wind. Same results as the other days filled the box and headed in. Right before we headed in a pontoon boat that was camped in the back of the canyon buzzed us and one of the guys lifted a striper that was certainly over 20 lbs.

Wind calmed down and we headed back to our point . It was easy today and we loaded the box again. Did more jigging today which was producing walleyes just as fast as the bottom bouncing. Caugfht the largest fish of the trip in the morning about 4 lbs 22 inch. Most of the fish were 14-20 long all healthy and fat as could be.
The Spot
This point is on the south shore of red canyon just across from the islands that are exposed in the center of the bay. It has a 100 yard point that is about 6 feet above water and a flat that extends off of it another 100 yards into the lake that is 20 feet or so deep. We caught fish both on the wall and on the flat with equal success. On the final day it seemed the fish were really on the exact point as every time we went by we hooked up. The point is easy to find as the rock is a dark brown almost lava rock looking.
The Gear
2 ounce bottom bouncers
Crawler harnesses in yellow and orange or green and orange
Trolling speed was about .9 mph but wind had us faster and slower
Blades were silver or hammered silver
Worms as big as we could get
Will try and post pics from my phone not sure how to do that but took pics of the spot and finder and of course the fish
Get down there sure they will be there a few more days good luck to all

I've been training hard and ready to run the ramps. Water temps should be absolutely perfect for a full on feeding frenzy!!!!!!  Jiggy Jiggy.
When in doubt, set the hook!
