Tom, I've never had any problems with animals shore camping.  I find the skunks and other things like to stick where more people are dumping and leaving leftovers.  If i go further up lake for stripers like I think I will, more than likely we'll stay out for a night or too to save gas and the hour long drive each way.  Otherwise I'll try and score a camp spot next to you.  Also, still debating on arrival and departure.  I'll either arrive Friday late night after working all day and leave Wednesday or arrive late Tuesday night and leave Sunday.  More than likely I'll play it by ear with the weather and schedule according to that.

saw a garret edwards show last weekend of him catching crappie at powell. 25ft deep in the back of coves. late april. of course super clear conditions. he was jigging in any deep sticks he could find. he caught a bunch. im gunna work for some slabs this trip too.

I really enjoyed catching crappie in the back bays last year. If you find brush there is a good chance some crappie will be lurking nearby.

I'm sure we will devote at least one day to chase slabs. Hard to believe how far those coves go back. Like a maze getting back there.

For what it's worth, here's my Crappie spot I found in Ceder Canyon two years ago:  http://goo.gl/maps/dvm4g

From the green arrow to the sharp finger point I graphed suspended fish, assumed it was Crappie so put away the Walleye gear & pulled out the RoadRunners w/ BBC.  Trolled back in forth in that small area and caught 10 nice Crappie.  Lake ended just past that point with submerged trees.

Lake elevation at that time was 3611' and currently the lake elevation is 3603'.  Couldn't find them last year with the lake elevation at 3635' so maybe they'll come back to play this year.

OK boys & girls - couple months away...........  :occasion14:

So I received a PM from TRITOON - Wade & Patty are very interested in joining us on this trip.  He was asking if there are any couples out there looking to share a Family Unit.  Not sure what to tell him so I mentioned that I would post about it.  Tom - you still going solo or have you thought about bringing Brenda and/or trading in the tent for a room in a Family Unit?  Looking for ideas & suggestions on lodging arraignments.  Brian - I believe you commented about the availability of a 3rd Family Unit being on standby if we needed it.

Here is a list of people in Family Units that I know of so far: David & Nana, Joe, Joe's friend Dick, Matt, Brian, Brian's friend, Chris, Dave & me.  Think we have Fish Hawk almost committed but is still on the bubble.  Anybody else still thinking about joining in??

Thoughts & comments.............
