My Dad used to tell me that fish bit better in the rain - so much for that theory. Arrived at Cholla at 10am Fri and spent the day in camp enjoying the weather. Hit the Salt end Sat morning - no flotilla. Lake was calm and cold. Fished 'til about 2pm when the wind came up. Water temp started as 52 and was 57 when we left. Sunday tried the Tonto arm. Again the lake was calm and no flotilla. Water here was a bit cooler at 50 going to 55 when we quit at 11am. Tried trolling minnow tipped jigs, dropshotting, and trolling lures. Every color we had. Not one bite of any species of fish. Stopped at Jake's Corner on the way back and bought 6 doz minnows (6 doz for the price of 5 @ $2.25/doz). Will try again later in the week when things warm up. (maybe Bartlett). It can't get any worse.

going to Roosevelt for a week come the 16th, it would be great if someone can keep me up to date on the water temperatures around the grapevine area. Hopefully wont have to delay another week.

Its not the rain as much as the barometric pressure falling that tends to slow or shut down a Crappie bite. In my experience Bartlett and Alamo take a day or 2 for the bite to recover, San Carlos (when it had water) about the maybe a little faster. Rosey, 3 to 4 days.

I was out yesterday on the Salt end and boated 1 crappie (1.8 lb.) long line trolling and 1 bass on a shakey-head worm. Water temp 55 at 7 a.m. and 62 at 2 p.m. at Grapevine launch ramp. I will try the Salt end again tomorrow.........Art

Did you put in at Grapevine?  Assuming the ramp is usable again as I did see one guy use it.  He did have a smaller boat though.
