This is a lil long

We got to lake around 4pm on Friday. Went to government hill for SRP employes can rent and unloaded truck, car etc... Got my boat In water at marina fished the cove just to right of Gov hill and got a nice bass first drop of a 1/16 oz RR chart head bbc tipped. Went ate went back out with my cousin for some night fishing in that same cove and nothing. She's never caught a crappie before at this point. I told just wait hopefully it will be good. Wrong thing to say skunked. Lots of carp but no slabs.

4/26 got up 6 am hit the water by myself no one else wanted to go more room for me. Started hit the banks in the way to check out damn never seen from water before kinda cool, I ran into bunch of shad. I had no minnows was I my planning on jigging but I knew I had to my cousin a slab. So I put my poles away got my cooler live will ready broke out cast net and well ya I got all kinds of shad. Some even 6". Real hard to keep alive thou. Even with aerator going at 800 gph. After launch we saw some guys next to us cleaning a good dozen slabs. Very nice ones. Told us go fish around marina. Their is a guys over their catching 50 a night. So I had to go see for my self. Grabbed my cousin and and said let's go. She hooked up with a nice slab right in front of courtesy dock on a slip bobber and 1/32 oz jig with shad in it. I picked  up another bass jigging a 1/32 oz Jig with some black grub and chart lil swim bait tail. I asked her if she wanted to try to catch a bass she said sure put her pole(mine) in holder and not the biggest bite. She panics and grabs the rod and line and pop. I don't no what it was but I think it was a big cat. Nothing after that. Went home grilled up some good steaks and got ready for another night trip. We meet up with guys next to us in Marina around 9pm. Set out 2 ft green light and went to work. Guys next to us had a half a basket full when we got their. They had couple real decent ones pushing 2.5 from what I could see. Well I dropped over a shad for couple hrs nothing. Started jigging started with a small dead shad tipped and bingo. Picked up three that way then went dead. These guys from Tucson came by with some 1/64 oz and 1/100 oz jigs tipped white plastics and one guys cranked out 4-5 in like 45 mins. Got one more that night and called it around 2:30 am.

4/28 woke up made family some pancakes and packed up the truck went loaded up the boat came back to house to check out got some ice cream yum and while the family drove back to Glendale Az
I went drove over to marina and walked down and fished from courtesy dock. Started fishing around 1:30. Since I didn't want to launch boat I had a limited things to work with so I just jigged the whole time. 1/32 oz jig tipped pearl white grub. Got me two more right off the bat. No more after them 2slabs. Left around 5 to drive home. Was a fun weekend spent with family and meeting new people on the water. Hers some pics biggest slab of trip 1.8lb is top left corner on cooler pic

interesting that the marinas atttitude at roosevelt has changed? they were real pissy about letting anyone fish around or from the docks or coutesy dock for a long time had everything posted no fishing, and no tresspass to people in boats :dontknow: when I was up there a couple weeks ago I saw a bunch of people fishing over near the night time security entrance there at the dock thought it was employees? the marina in the past used to be good before the management changed several years ago

hard to tell in the pictures but looks like several of those fish are females with their eggs still?

Basically we if you go fish courtesy docks they want u to pay 10$. So we went up their around 9 pm in Saturday night and no charge well they didn't say anything. They still don't want boats in member area. Does the marina own water ? I know one can't go up to private docks but really can't fish around them? I know that people may be trying to launch boats or dock but in past I would always move out of way and let them do their thing then went back fishing at Saguaro.

Out of the 5 slabs we kept two were female. One of them still had eggs other didn't. It's got to be close to being done with spawn. The others were males. One of them was real black when he went in live well came out missing a lot of black. The guys from Tucson have been going to Rosie for past three weeks and have been pulling out anywhere from 50-100 a night. They said best fishing has been between 4 am and 9 am around marina.

interesting thanks, I really think some of those crappie spawn right in the marina on the underwater panels etc. that hold the marina together

thanks for the report

Ya they do. Well those guys have been fishing same spot for past three weeks and said lot of crappie in marina were spawing along the out side of docks. Their is a flat rail that connects one to another about 10 ft down and they sit right on top. Same with bass. I got one bass this way maybe 2 lb let em go. I'm just glad I finally got my Rosie slab. Skunked first two trips since I started slab fishing. Once you pop you just can't stop!!!

Interesting.  At the SCF a fella told me that someone caught over 100 crappie under the boats at the marina.  I did check out the area outside the tires and I graphed a lot of fish, but they were all down very deep  40-60'.  I'm not sure what they were, but there was a whole lot of them.

Lol.   I did when I found out.  But like I said if you dock up their and wanna fish have 10$ ready to pay the lady. Or go right after they close for night fishing. Went Saturday night didn't get charged. Maybe they thought we were with other people. They got indoor bathrooms right their and I believe a soda machine. Only bad thing about night at marina u got to deal with he drunk marina folks partying their boats in marina. Kinda lame if you ask me. You got a fancy boat and just party in marina. Don't get it. Anyways leave some fish for me!!!

I totally with u on that not drinking and driving ANYTHING!!! I guess what I'm trying to say if I had a real expensive boat and also could pay to keep to moored in marina all the time I would want to cruze some where on lake drop anchor and party under the stars. Then I would just passout come back in morning. I don't drink much thou if any so I guess I would wanna have some fun. Sittin in marina with buddies on a boat would be ok. Sittin in some back cove not bothering anybody, havin a few with friends, floating on a boat and fishing  sound like a awesome night in my opinion thou.
