Got on the water 10am Thursday after we setup camp on the SB cove shoreline.  Had our own private little area somehow.  Weather great.  SB cove dock not busy at all any of the days.

Thursday - A little wind so we fished up river past no wake buoys around the corner to an area with trees sticking up out of the water.  Caught no crappie although did catch plenty of the other fish.

Friday - had minnows on the bubbler all night and they all died.  These were bought from Greenfield and US60 and water was really blue to the point it was bubbling up a little more than clean water.  We did add a small amount of lake water Thur night.  Not sure why they died.  So.... we fished by the dam without minnows.  No crappie.  Not sure where to fish by the dam area really as not sure where the crappie live there.    Marina store said minnow guy was coming "first thing" in the morning but he didn't show up until 11:30.   Saw him weigh 6lbs of water and add 4lbs of minnows (~1000 minnows).  Store lady said they'd last maybe a week.  Nice size and healthy.  Redocked at SB Cove, headed past no wake buoys and we didn't head down as far this time.  We fished in 35ft of water over trees or shrubs using jigs with minnows and caught no crappie.  End of the day we tried Cat Bay and had bluegill or other small fish tapping our line but no crappie.

Saturday -- we headed back past no wake buoys this time in 25ft and caught 5 crappie between 9-11am.  Headed back to Cat Bay and nada.  All crappie caught with 1/8oz jig with black and blue chartreuse - all tipped with minnows.

Talked to another guy at the ramp and he said crappie started biting in the 4-5:30 afternoon timeframe.  ArzFisher mentioned similar results in his post.  Even camping there we somehow never made it out until 8:30am or so - wonder if our luck would have been better if we were on our spot by light.....

thanks for the post, I know several people swear by the late afternoon bite at bartlett in the fall/winter I just hate dealing with traffic going home so I never stay that late.

Thanks Matt for the report. Sounded like it sure was nice camping there. Now that the lake is going down, I noticed several spots you can shore camp. I might have to pack up the tent and try it on of these weekends.
