Jigs were a little quieter last year compared to the year before.  Will they make their return?

Excited to be back at Halls Crossing.

I've been slowly digging out my walleye gear and placing orders to replace things left at the lake fishing last year.

Like Matt, I'm excited to be back at Halls. Last year was fun, but I like the more relaxed feel Halls gives. Plus, I can break more ribs there playing poker :glasses9:

I think we missed the jig bite by a week last year. It started to heat up for us as the week progressed. I'd have to go back into my graph screen shots and look at the temps to compare. We did find a few new places to fish though.
SEA.....HAWKS....

I'm not sure about that.  Can't speak for other boats & hope Billy Ho will put his two cents here.  When we slowed way down & floated above structure fishing jigs VERTICAL, we had pretty good luck.  Yes, casting towards shore & jiggy jiggy back to the boat didn't seem to be what they wanted.  But we floated above the point at Cedar Canyon along with the flats just across from & a bit uplake of Moki we had decent luck jiggy jiggy vertically.  And I was not jigging very aggressively either.  More like swimming it slowly (or even suspending it) up & down with the drop offs/structure.  Think I just about smacked Billy Ho in the noggin swinging a fish in the boat.....

Yes the jig bite sucks at Powell. So leave all your jigs at home. Larry you had fish flailing all over the boat last year. Wouldn't wait for the net. maybe I was to slow with the net.

FishMan

Great example Larry as why those willing to adapt to the situation at hand will always catch fish. Last year most of our Waleye came from the flats and not the rubble, and with the Smallies not moving up untill the last day of the trip, I caught at least 100 fewer Smalmouth on the Jig or Tube then the previous years and not a single Senko fish. That's why this year I will be focusing on my Tiger Musky, and any other species will be by accident. Jiggy Jiggy.
