I think me and Chris want to rent a family unit as well. I think if we can share it with two other people it would work out pretty well. I think 7 days would be perfect.

I am in for this trip for whatever. I am thinking 7 days, with 5 being on the water. Gotta remember two of your days are travel days.
SEA.....HAWKS....

right on as they say in todays vernacular. you dudes better not steal my campin spot. its hte one on the end in the nwcorner, 24 as i recall. other considerations:
the drive is beauty the mokidugi is nicely gravelled and no big deal as long as you dont look down.
the camping facilities are out in the open and windswept, not much shade nice elctric hot water showers and restroom facilities. usualluy the guy at the rv spot will let you plug in the boat. not crowded at all last year. the view is outrageously gorgeous. well worth putting up with the elements to me anyhows,
the store sucks ice is 5bucks plus. worms are the ticket and their supply is dodgy. well need to go in on a flat again.good call champ.
the whole place is roughly ninety miles from the nearest twon so pack it in and keep it cold. you dont want to rely on pickin stuff up there. it is a remote area although there are lots of peeps around.
the sustained winds were not fun. triple l is correct that ther are many hiding spot and the places we hit were mostly cuts in rock but we encountered open water in halls and bllfog and up and down the channel. youre unit matt would be a very wet and long run.
the fishing was beauty. troll rigs, vertical jig, toss a jig on the bank and bounce it down the rockslides. all productive for eyes largemouths and gills. drag a crank tipped with worm for eyes and smallies. its all good and plenty.
come on fearless jump in baby. get your butt and tent up there and well take care of yas from there.fishhawk youre certainly welcome to join me any where except the tent. indeed ill be calling the may meetin from out front of triple ls place at 5 friday just before we dine.
yes i did have a blast last year until the dreaded crud drove me from my perch. this year well be beterr. well also need to concieve a eye tourney or most fish or most species tourney. so one of can get our gas reimbursed.

BUMP!

Dave (Sparkchaser) & I are now thinking a 7 day trip - leaving on Saturday, April 27th returning Friday, May 3rd.  That'll be 5 full days on the lake plus a 1/2 day after arriving on Saturday.

This trip sounds better every time I read the thread.  I'm going to give it some serious thought.  Is a 20 foot Nitro enough boat for that lake?  Seems like a bass boat on Powell may not be the best idea.

Stevert, we fished all over the lake last year..  Went 30-35 miles up lake one day...  But I think the best fishing we had was within a couple miles of Halls Crossing...  There are tons of coves and canyons you can go into to wait out the wind, if need be...  Last years trip was my first to Powell, but I didn't see anything that would cause you any problems with a bass boat...  Heck, I'm thinking about taking my 16' Lowe...
Always carry a flagon of whiskey in case of
snakebite...  Furthermore always carry a small
snake.

Don't over think it Steve!  I sure did my first time there.  I too was worried my 18' Ranger wouldn't "be enough" for Powell.  As Chris mentioned, plenty of places to hide & fish if the weather does turn.  I've seen plenty of bass boats on the lake so you will have absolutely no problem with your rig.  Ask Joe as he's had his Stratos on Powell a number of times.

We'd love to have you join us Steve for Spring Walleye Fest on beautiful Lake Powell.......

Teaser Alert....

Here's my friend Mike with our freezer full of Walleye last year.  Damn package of frozen french fries was taking up way too much space!
