Just a reminder the new limits for crappie 15 per day starts tomorrow Jan. 1st 2014 at Bartlett and Roosevelt lake, don't get surprised by the new rule it is an expensive citation (per fish) and over limits.

I'm curious as well of how they will handle the example you make. According to the rules, you have not broken the law.

It's like WI,, Daily bag is 15,,, possession limit is 30,,, INCLUDING,,, at home in your freezer!!! So if you are on the water overnight 30 is O.K. Just beware,,, a friend of mine in WI had a freezer full of walleyes. He set up a fish fry at a local bar,, FREE FISH! Wardens stopped in for a bite. When they found out ALL the fish came from Randy they busted him. Not sure what the money was but he lost his fishing and hunting privileges for 5 years! In WI,,, wardens had the right to walk in and check your freezer IF they want!! Buy your wife a license and you can have 30 in the boat and 30 more at home.

I've been looking for clarification on this rule change without any luck. So if you night fish and catch 15 before midnight and 15 after,  all still in the live wells have you broken the law or not?  What if 15 are on ice in the cooler and 15 in the live well?

Not like we ever see a game officer on the lake anyway but am wondering...

Damn Bob that's a good one. I think if you had 15 in well right before midnight and caught 15 more or even one more would be a ticket Possession limit.  Now the cooler I think would pass. Say your camping three days or more and want to keep some to take home.  So if you're night fishing can't you just take those 15 caught before midnight  put on ice then start over? Rules state midnight to midnight?  I mean they might even say the cooler idea won't work because it's in your possession at camp or in truck or boat whatever. They need more clarity on that subject.  I'm with Bob I got more questions now than before when it was simple a kid could figure it out.

P.S. If you have children under 10 (in AZ) it's 30 more each!

I agree with Bob on this one but I'm still cracking up just thinking about G&F checking somebody's freezer at home. They have repeatedly shown their concern (or lack thereof) towards crappie. Hopefully, times are a changin'.

NO IT DOESN'T!  If the rules they changed to were in force now statewide that could be considered accurate.  So lets say I have fillets from 3000 crappie in my freezer and they pull a search warrant and find them, most probably came from Alamo or Pleasant but they have no clue, how am I breaking the possession limit when there ISN'T one for any other lake?

Bob Now that is another good one. Their is so many ways around it was kinda pointless I'm starting to see. I guess they want us to use the honor system. It's fine with me any way they make it. I really just go out for fun mostly not to catch and eat. This year I threw back 75% of the slabs I caught mostly cause I don't like a lot of fish. Although crappies are the best fish I have had. But very good points
